Michael A. Herbert

Before joining the UPDC team, Michael was a faculty member in the Special Education Department at the University of Utah. For the past 11 years he has been employed as a UPDC Program Specialist and editor for The Utah Special Educator. He provides professional development to teachers and administrators throughout the state on such topics as responsiveness to Intervention (RtI), specialized instruction for individuals with specific learning disabilities (SLD), specialized instruction for all students (including English language learners) with academic language instructional needs, coaching, and meaningful formative and summative assessment practices to improve instruction.
