Welcome

Photo of Tom JohnsonThanks for visiting my place on the web. My goals are to:

      • To provide a wider range of access to important content and materials in a paperless/on-demand way.
      • To improve efficiency for UPDC and related staff.
      • To promote collaboration in our organization and statewide.
      • To promote awareness that digital is a form of literacy & students need to be prepared to meet the digital age and digital economy, just as well as they need to learn Reading, Language Arts, and Mathematics.
More about myself:

Prior to coming to the UPDC in September 2003, I worked as web and multimedia/technology specialist for Dr. Alan Hofmeister and the Center for Persons with Disabilities at Utah State University. While working with Dr. Hofmeister, I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Information Systems. I have worked on many notable projects including: The Reading for All Learners Program, Elementary Earth Science DVD series (Science for All Learners), Math Mastery DVD program, and the Utah Students At Risk Online Staff Development Academy.

At the UPDC I have been charged with handling various technology related responsibilities including: conference support, IT systems management, UPDC technology support, web content delivery, distance education & professional development, and instructional design (using instructional technologies).

I am currently working on a masters degree in Instructional Technology & Learning Sciences through Utah State University as well.

Away from work, I enjoy: hanging out with my family, hiking to the tops of peaks (or bagging peaks), fishing, biking, geneology research and geeking out with technology gadgets.
